How to choose the product that fits your needs
Correctly sizing an electric heating system is essential to achieve the right balance between installed power (which, in electric heating, is calculated in Watts) and indoor thermal comfort.
The thermal output of Radialight electric heating products and the calculation of the heat demand required to properly warm your spaces depend on three fundamental parameters:
- The climate zone in which the property is located;
- The level of thermal insulation;
- The intended use and size of the room to be heated.
Of course, there are additional factors that may influence the choice of the most suitable product, such as room orientation (north- or south-facing), residential or commercial use, or personal preferences for higher-than-average indoor temperatures.
This guide nevertheless provides a simple yet effective indication for calculating the average heat demand required to ensure proper heating with responsible energy consumption.
Italy can be divided into four geographical zones based on average winter temperatures. Identify the colour corresponding to your climate zone:
Thermal insulation has a direct impact on the heating power required to warm a space. Poor insulation requires higher output, but how can you estimate the insulation level of a building?
For non-renovated homes where the energy class is unknown, the year of construction can be used as a reference. To simplify this process, we have divided buildings into five categories, ranging from constructions built before 1975 to modern buildings.
Comfort and heating requirements vary depending on whether the space is a hallway, a bathroom, a kitchen or a bedroom. Different rooms require different specific power levels, typically ranging from 50 to 150 W/m2.
Room size and ceiling height also directly affect the total power required.
